A perfect pack

There’s something so light and pure about this YUE Pocket Backpack.

Perhaps this is the perfect carryall for an upcoming week in San Francisco and Big Sur. It seems an appropriate partner for scaling sand dunes and biking across bridges, no?

la pochette, apr.11

since i was a wee one, i've had a love for bags so strong that it borders on unhealthy. i have many distinct memories of my mama referring to me as a 'bag lady'...i would take the time each morning to transfer my books, pencil pouch, etc from one bag or backpack to whichever one was a better match for that day's ensemble. fast forward 20+ years and i'm still right there. maybe a little less matchy-matchy than in 3rd grade, but with a pretty solid supply of satchels, totes and carryalls which can often be found littering all rooms of my apartment, thanks to that very same morning transfer routine, now done in haste as i run to the subway.

anyhoo, now that you have some background, here's a really hot little number that i wouldn't mind adding to my collection:

do you remember this post? clearly clare vivier just continues to read my mind. all i want is to carry my belongings around in soft clutches of various colors, sizes, textures and patterns. my attraction to the above babies is a product of my desperate need for sunshine (longest.winter.ever). the neutral/bright combo begs to be worn with loose white cotton tops, baby blue ankle jeans, khaki trenches, gold jewels, tan skin and the like.

in the clutch, oct.10

this clare vivier laptop clutch is such a dreamy day-to-night style. i'm in the midst of packing for a 10-day work trip and this is exactly the piece i'm missing: one that looks good, packs easily and has not one but TWO awesome functions. lovely, lovely, lovely.

rennes, mar.10

i recently stumbled upon rennes and i can't get over just how perfect these bags are...no crazy details or amazing embellishments. just the right shape, size and color for me to grab and go every morning without having to transfer bags and forget my keys/metro card/lip gloss/ etc as i run out the door. gretel (in cobalt blue, above) is my girl.

fleabags, feb.10

suuuch a lovely saturday! kris was in town from SF and we paid a little visit to the brooklyn flea before she had to catch her flight...

we met this precious pup along the way

my only flea purchase, a gruyere-paprika pretzel with beet-horseradish mayo and dijon mustard

the totally gorgeous interior of 1 hanson, this years indoor brooklyn flea site

speaking of fleas, a friend just introduced me to fleabags, a line of pretty and practical totes made with just my sort of saturday in mind. i'm in love, i reeaallly want that blue one!

books can be deceiving, jan.10

i love old books- the smell, the cover art, the contents, the way they look on my wall. but whoa olympia le tan, you just took old books to a whole new level. this line of soft, gold-edged clutches embroidered with classic book cover art is tres magnifique and truly the thinking woman's accessory of the moment.
