Ode to Camping, July.11

I'm approaching the final week of my lu-huuvely summer vacation and I couldn't ask for a more perfectly summery way to spend it: First camping and river venturing with friends along the Delaware Water Gap. Then flying back to Seattle to squeeze in one last visit with my sweet little baby turnip-faced niece, her amazing mama, my wonderful mom and pops and me lovely lady friends. Mmhmmmnn.

I love camping like a fat kid loves cake, and would really like to do it more than once a year. It makes me miss the Pacific Northwest and it's abundance of beautiful outdoor spaces to lay my head. But to be fair, what I love about NY camping is that you can get to some really amazing areas by relying solely on public transportation- like the watchhill wilderness campground!

Hope you like my little concoction of camp-esque images and attire. Bring on the river tubing, banana boat-ing, citronella-scented weekend!

secret squirrel, june.11

it was only just last week that i became aware of secret squirrel, and suddenly i feel like i've just met a long-lost sister. familiar/new/cool/so exciting. she would be allowed in my home any day.

he's got the look, june.11

”English is for business, Spanish is for working, Italian is for fighting…and French is for lovemaking” - Gian Franco Brignone on the art of language.

He seems like a good guy to know, and I adore his beachy Greek fisherman look + goldenrod pants. Old men in bright bottoms - hands down one of my favorite things to see.

a short lesson in logic:

. i looove shoes
. i'm short...petite, if you will
. if you are height-challenged, and you wear nude shoes, they will give the illusion that you are taller*
. therefore, i must make room in the closet for rebecca minkoff's debut shoe collection.

*note: this equation may not apply to all skin tones.

i spotted these doll boots on a client earlier in the week and haven't been able to get them outta my mind...a perfect color to wear with everything, and the heel height is just right:

and then there's the vixen platform pump- these beauties have been sitting in my shopping cart for a month next to a michael kors rose gold watch. maybe it's time to bring em on home.

razzle dazzle, apr.11

i'm really loving this glitzy bracelet, dripping with a rainbow of rhinestones!
it reminds me of this advanced style interview that i recently watched...'lots and lots and lots of bracelets! lots and lots and lots of rings!'
words to live by, yes indeed.

la pochette, apr.11

since i was a wee one, i've had a love for bags so strong that it borders on unhealthy. i have many distinct memories of my mama referring to me as a 'bag lady'...i would take the time each morning to transfer my books, pencil pouch, etc from one bag or backpack to whichever one was a better match for that day's ensemble. fast forward 20+ years and i'm still right there. maybe a little less matchy-matchy than in 3rd grade, but with a pretty solid supply of satchels, totes and carryalls which can often be found littering all rooms of my apartment, thanks to that very same morning transfer routine, now done in haste as i run to the subway.

anyhoo, now that you have some background, here's a really hot little number that i wouldn't mind adding to my collection:

do you remember this post? clearly clare vivier just continues to read my mind. all i want is to carry my belongings around in soft clutches of various colors, sizes, textures and patterns. my attraction to the above babies is a product of my desperate need for sunshine (longest.winter.ever). the neutral/bright combo begs to be worn with loose white cotton tops, baby blue ankle jeans, khaki trenches, gold jewels, tan skin and the like.
